We have two spring string events this May. First we have our Mattacheese MS Solo & Ensemble concert on Wed., May 9th at 7:00 PM. Music students in grades 6 & 7 may perform a solo or small ensemble piece. Anyone who's interested should check in with Mrs. Cutler, Mrs. Anderson or Mr. Graf to "audition" and to officially sign up. This concert is only performed in the evening and is free and open to the public.
Next is the D-Y High School Spring Pops Concert on Wed., May 30th at 7:00 PM. There is an admission fee of $5.00. The orchestra, chorus, and bands will all perform. The Orchestra has the privilege of hosting this year, and we are looking for as many volunteers as possible to bake/donate baked goods/snacks and water, sell concessions, manage the silent auctions and collect admission. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Cutler at [email protected] or 508-398-7648, ext. 3.

Hope you're all having a great summer. I also hope that you've been taking our your instruments to get in some practice before September rehearsals begin.
Honors students, if you have not received a copy of your All-Cape solo, please contact me via email ([email protected]), and I will send you a scanned copy. I have met with a few students who are already preparing their solos. Contact me if you'd like to meet up for a lesson between now and the start of school. I'm available Wed. mornings between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM, but I need to know in advance if you're coming in. If you can't make it in this summer, I will also be meeting with Honors students to work on the solos (in group lessons) after school on Mondays beginning in September. That schedule is still TBA.
The first sightreading examples for Honors students have been posted on SmartMusic and are due on Sept. 16th. Most Honors Orchestra students have already been re-enrolled. If you did not take Honors last year, you are not on the roster yet.
Scales won't be evaluated until the Fall. I'll keep you posted on how they'll be evaluated and when they are due.
That's all for now!
